This part was developed in 1997 at SA to correct a fundamental Colt design error.
The Colt 9mm SMG BOLT ASSY is shorter than the 5.56mm BOLT GROUP.
This creates over-travel in the SMG cycle of operation, Which leads to certain malfunctions and premature part wear.
(Most commonly bolt catch breakage).
The spacer is installed behind the action spring -
And radically changes the operating characteristics In both the Colt 9mm SMG and carbine.
Machined at SA from 7075T6 aircraft aluminum.
